Magda Linette started the tournament in Wuhan with a confident victory over Ludmila Samsonowa. The higher-ranked rival was the background for the Polish representative.

Magdalena Fręch, who started the competition the day before, was joined by Magda Linette on Tuesday morning Polish time. The experienced tennis player gave Ludmila Samsonova no chance, winning 6:2, 6:2.
Magda Linette did not give her Russian rival a chance
Linette couldn’t be satisfied with the draw, because in the first round she faced an opponent with whom she had problems in the past. In the previous matches, the Russian was always on top, and in each of them she won without losing a set. After the 32-year-old lost her application during the opening match, one could wonder whether it would be similar this time. However, Linette showed everyone how great she was when she arrived in Wuhan. She immediately made up for the loss and then started marching for more games. In the fourth set of the game, she broke her opponent for the second time. She was already leading 4:1 when Samsonowa won the second game. Ultimately, the Pole won 6:2, beating the Russian for the third time at the end of the premiere game.
In the second set, the game was also dictated by the 45th ranked player in the world. Linette used the third break point and broke Samsonowa in the second game. She had neither luck nor skill that day. She often asked for applause after great plays.
The Polish representative had control over the duel. Just like in the first game, in the second game she allowed her opponent to win only two games. By winning the last one (on the Russian’s serve), she could enjoy advancing to the next stage of the tournament.
