WhatsApp is preparing something new. Many users will be happy
WhatsApp is testing a new feature. It’s about the ability to block messages from accounts that raise doubts. For now, however, this will be possible to a limited extent.
According to WABetainfo, WhatsApp is testing the function of blocking messages from unknown accounts.
This feature allows users to automatically block incoming messages from unknown accounts if they exceed a certain number, helping protect against unwanted or potentially harmful communications. This means that for now it will not be possible to block messages from all accounts that raise doubts.
WhatsApp with a new feature. When will it be available to everyone?
The new feature is already available in the test version of the messenger for Android. To turn it on, just go to your privacy settings and use the new slider. After enabling the protection, WhatsApp will automatically block messages sent to the user from people who are not in your contacts, as long as they exceed a “certain volume”. The messenger is supposed to detect unnatural behavior, e.g. a large number of messages in a short time, which may lead to automatic blocking of further conversation. This is a clever safeguard that can help avoid persistent users trying to scam random people.
According to the website dobreprogramy.pl, testing among beta users means that the new function is almost finished. It can therefore be assumed that the stable release of WhatsApp may occur in the coming weeks, or at most months.
Until then, users can use current options to block unwanted content and suspicious accounts. The user can report unwanted messages received from a specific sender or group to the system. After sending the report (just click on the three dots symbol located in the upper right corner of the chat), Whatsapp will receive the last five messages sent by the group or sender. Reported persons will not be notified about the block. The user can also block an unknown number. Just open the chat window and select “Block” in the notification (for a contact that has not been saved). A blocked contact will not be able to call or send messages to you.
