What is the hourly rate in 2027? We know the ministry’s proposal

The government has until mid-June to present social partners with a proposal for the minimum wage and the minimum hourly rate in 2027.

So far, the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy has presented its proposal. In a press release sent to the Polish Press Agency, the ministry announced that it would recommend that the minimum wage amount to PLN 4,986 gross, and the minimum hourly rate – PLN 32.60 gross.

Let us remind you that currently the lowest national wage is PLN 4,806 gross, and the minimum hourly rate is PLN 31.40 gross. Therefore, if the ministry’s proposal is accepted, the minimum wage will increase by PLN 180 and the hourly rate by PLN 1.20.

Minimum wage in 2027. There is a proposal from the Ministry of Labor

The Ministry indicates that the proposed PLN 4,986 is to correspond to half of the forecast average salary in 2027 (it is estimated to be approximately PLN 9,970 gross).

As mentioned, this is currently a proposal of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy. The final amount will be presented by the Council of Ministers in the near future, and then it will be negotiated in the Social Dialogue Council. If trade unionists fail to reach an agreement with employers, the government will make a decision on this matter. He has until September 15 to do so.

It may be difficult to reach an agreement because the current proposals of the social partners are quite divergent. As Money.pl reported, three trade union headquarters expect an increase to PLN 5,200 gross. In turn, the Chief Economist of the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs, Łukasz Kozłowski, is of the opinion that the minimum wage could increase in 2027 to PLN 4,860.47 or 4,974.92 gross. Kozłowski considered the government’s long-term macroeconomic assumptions for 2026-2030 as the starting point for these calculations.

Estimates of the Ministry of Labor show that approximately 15% of people in Poland receive the minimum wage. all employees, i.e. over 3 million people.
