The Ministry of Energy has published an announcement regarding fuel prices, which will be effective on May 14. Most people who refuel have to take into account a price increase.

From Monday, March 30, the Ministry of Energy publishes announcements specifying maximum fuel prices at stations.

From the latest announcement, published this morning in Monitor Polski, we learn how much those who refuel will pay on Thursday, May 14.

What are fuel prices on May 14? There are raises

On May 14, the rates for individual fuels will be:

  • unleaded petrol Pb95: PLN 6.39 per liter,

  • unleaded petrol Pb98: PLN 6.46 per liter,

  • diesel oil: PLN 6.92 per liter.

Let us remind you that the maximum fuel prices applicable today (May 13) are:

  • unleaded petrol Pb95: PLN 6.28 per liter,

  • unleaded petrol Pb98: PLN 6.87 per liter,

  • diesel oil: PLN 6.84 per liter.

On March 26, the government adopted a package called “Fuel Prices Lower” (CPN). A day later, it was accepted by parliamentarians and then signed by President Karol Nawrocki. The package includes, among others: reduction of the VAT rate on fuels from 23%. up to 8%, a reduction in excise duty to the minimum EU levels (by PLN 29/l for petrol and PLN 28/l for diesel), as well as the introduction of a maximum retail price for fuels.

The new regulations oblige fuel sellers to charge prices no higher than the announced limits. Exceeding the maximum price will result in a penalty of up to PLN 1 million. Inspections in this respect will be carried out by the National Tax Administration.

The maximum price is set according to a specific formula. It takes into account the average wholesale price of fuels on the domestic market, to which are added, among others, excise duty, fuel fee, sales margin of PLN 0.30 per liter and VAT.

The maximum price announced by the Minister of Energy is valid from the day following its publication in Monitor Polski. If announced before non-working days and holidays, the rate will apply until the next business day.

Let us remind you that for now the CPN package is valid until May 15. However, the Minister of Finance and Economy, Andrzej Domański, declared on Wednesday that it would be extended to the end of the month. Meanwhile, as the latest survey by SW Research for “Wprost” shows, almost 70 percent Poles support its extension until the end of 2026.
