What awaits drivers after the return of CPN? Experts presented forecasts
From next week, the Lower Fuel Prices (CPN) package will return. Experts have calculated how much prices at gas stations will fall.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the partial restoration of the Lower Fuel Prices (CPN) package. On the same day, an amendment to the regulation of the Minister of Finance and Economy on reduced rates of tax on goods and services entered into force, which provides for a reduction from 23 percent. up to 8 percent VAT rates on petrol and diesel oil. The lower VAT will apply from August 17 to August 31, i.e. until the end of the holidays.
Drivers will feel the reductions on Monday. The Minister of Energy announced today that on August 17, the maximum rates at stations for individual fuels will be:

unleaded petrol Pb95: PLN 6.41 per liter,

unleaded petrol Pb98: PLN 7.20 per liter,

diesel oil: PLN 7.37 per liter.

What’s next? Experts from e-petrol.pl shared their predictions. Their forecasts show that in the coming days the average prices will be:

PLN 6.35-6.47/l for E10 petrol,

PLN 7.29-7.42/l for diesel oil,
-
PLN 2.88-2.96/l for autogas.
Unlike the “first” CPN (in force from the end of March to the end of June this year), this time there are no changes in excise duty, which – as analysts emphasize – means that entrepreneurs will not be affected by it. Relief for drivers may be short-lived, as there is no end in sight on the oil market related to limited supplies from the Persian Gulf region.
Experts indicate that even before the announcement of the reactivation of CPN, long-unseen discounts returned to gas stations. After a drop of 26 groszy, the average nationwide price of the popular “95” was PLN 7.29/l. A slightly smaller reduction applies to diesel fuel. Diesel has become cheaper by 13 cents and on average we pay PLN 8.09 per liter of this fuel. In turn, on the autogas market (this fuel is not included in the package), we have been observing price declines continuously for 16 weeks. The current discount amounted to 2 groszy and on average people who refuel pay PLN 2.97 per liter of LPG. However, analysts have no doubt that due to changes in the wholesale market, the discount at gas stations would be short-lived if not for the government’s decision regarding CPN.
