Tourists in Mexico must take into account the danger. The Embassy of the Republic of Poland issued an urgent appeal to Poles after a wave of violence broke out in the country.

American and Canadian airlines canceled flights to Mexico on Sunday after reports of the murder of Mexican Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera “el Mencho” led to clashes in the area.

“Due to the deterioration of the security situation in some areas of Mexico, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Mexico recommends all Polish citizens residing in the state of Jalisco and the neighboring states of Michoacan, Guanajuato, Colima, Aguascalientes, Zacatecas and Nayarit to follow and adapt to the security recommendations of the state authorities,” said the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Mexico.

The US embassy in this country appealed to its citizens to stay at home.

Videos from Guadalajara airport show passengers and airport workers fleeing, with smoke rising in the distance. False information began circulating on social media that gang members had “taken control of the facilities” at the airport.

The Puerta Vallarta airport said the riots had no impact on its operations. An official statement said he was “under the protection of National Guard (GN) and Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) personnel as part of ongoing coordination efforts with federal authorities.”

Danger near resorts

Tourists in the Pacific Ocean town of Sayulita were warned to return to their hotel rooms and stay at home due to increasing violence.

It also became dangerous in Puerto Vallarta. American tourist Jim Beck told CNN that he went outside his hotel in the city on Sunday to have breakfast and saw “taxis blowing up all over the city, blocking the roads.”

Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes was killed on Sunday during a Mexican military operation in the city of Tapalpa. A White House spokeswoman confirmed that the action was carried out with US intelligence support.
