The upcoming autumn weather is favorable for walks. If you intend to explore areas in the following voivodeships: Łódź, Lesser Poland, Świętokrzyskie and Podkarpackie, you should be especially careful. Pets taken for walks and even small children may be at risk. It’s all because of the rabies vaccine campaign and mysterious cubes scattered around the forests.
Vaccines scattered in the forest
The vaccine campaign was announced on the government website. The Government Security Center warned that from September 19 to October 4, you need to be very careful in forest areas in the mentioned regions of Poland. “There will be a rabies vaccine for foxes. Do not touch the vaccine and do not allow pets to touch it!” – we read in a special announcement.
Vaccines look very distinctive and may not resemble a medical product at first glance. We are talking about brown cubes in the shape of a tablet or dry pet food. It’s easy to mistake them for an innocent delicacy or a pebble, but in fact they are a medicine against a serious disease.

Vaccinating foxes is very important because it is a fatal disease. According to WHO data, rabies kills approximately 60,000 people every year, mainly in Asia and Africa.
Be careful with animals and children
When walking with animals in green areas, you should pay special attention to their safety and make sure they do not consume the vaccine. It is also worth making children aware of the brown cubes that await us. They often like to pick up various objects from the ground, especially while playing.
Eating such a vaccine by pets usually causes gastrointestinal problems. In some situations, immunity may also be weakened and exposure to other diseases may occur. People can also get poisoned. If a dangerous situation occurs, it is best to consult a doctor immediately.
