Warsaw recognized the superiority of another Polish city. “It’s hardly surprising”

Główne Miasto w Gdańsku

Warsaw lost the fight for the title of the best Polish city at city break. This is yet another ranking in which the capital did not achieve a high position.

This time it is not Warsaw or Kraków that can boast the title of “best” city. Gdańsk was considered the friendliest city break destination in Poland among large cities. Travelist.pl magazine prepared its ranking based on the opinions of readers who left no doubts. A trip to the center of Tricity is definitely a better idea for a weekend trip than the capital of Poland. “Actually, this is hardly surprising,” say the website’s editors about the choice of Gdańsk.

Gdańsk won against the biggest ones

Rich history, gastronomic gems, lots of green areas in summer and winter – the most beautiful Polish fair. In the latest Travelist.pl ranking, on the way to the leadership position for the best city for a city break, Gdańsk defeated, among others, Warsaw, Kraków or Wrocław. “Nowhere else on the Baltic Sea do wild nature and the great world coexist so closely, and the accumulation of natural wonders, monuments and world-class urban attractions is so great in such a small area,” the website’s editorial team explains the choice of its readers. The next places on the podium were taken – not surprisingly – by Kraków and Wrocław. Fourth place unexpectedly went to Kołobrzeg, and fifth to Bydgoszcz. Warsaw, Poznań, Katowice and Łódź were therefore outside the Big Five.

The best place to live

This is not the only competition that Warsaw has lost recently. The capital was also not among the five best Polish cities to live in, where the hitherto underestimated Olsztyn triumphed. More often than in Poland, Warsaw is distinguished on the international arena. Last year, the largest Polish city won the prestigious title of the best European tourist destination. On the way to the top, Warsaw defeated cities such as London, Prague, Vienna and Athens. What’s more, the winner was not chosen by a jury, but by the tourists themselves. “Over 142,000 votes were cast for it from nearly 130 countries around the world,” we read.
