During this year’s European Forum for New Ideas, the following topics were discussed: about geopolitics and potential threats that Europe must prepare for in the coming years. – It is obvious that the greatest threat is the potential spread of war on the European continent. The future of Poland depends on the outcome of the war currently taking place in Ukraine – said Prof. in an interview for Wprost.pl. Katarzyna Pisarska, chairwoman of the board of the Casimir Pułaski Foundation.

Ukraine must win the war

Ukraine’s victory is essential to stopping Vladimir Putin’s imperialist ambitions. However, the outcome of the war depends largely on how the rest of the world behaves.

– Its results depend on many factors that are developing today. Firstly, what will happen in the United States, who will sit in the White House and what policy they will pursue towards Putin and this conflict. And secondly, what response to this war will Europe continue or not, because it is primarily Europe’s responsibility – said the expert.

Defense policy

Poland, like other countries of the European community, has a tough nut to crack. Because, on the one hand, it must stimulate the economy, which has been slowed down by recent crises, and, on the other hand, invest in the arms industry, modernize the army and support Ukraine.

– On the one hand, large expenditures on armaments are necessary, and Poland is succeeding in this, today we are the largest country in terms of the amount of expenditure on armaments in terms of GDP in NATO, on the other hand, we must look at our economy in a developmental way, these expenditures must be conducted in such a way as to serve the economy – said prof. Katarzyna Pisarska.
