Lech Wałęsa has not received a pension from ZUS for 20 years, explaining it with concern for Poland. However, he benefits from the presidential benefit and allowances.

Former president Lech Wałęsa, known for his role in the Solidarity movement, revealed that he has not used his ZUS pension for 20 years. He justifies this decision by concern for the country’s financial condition. Wałęsa, on the other hand, collects the so-called presidential pension, security allowances and funds for running the office, which together give a monthly income of PLN 22,000. zloty.

Wałęsa’s presidential retirement

– If I was satisfied with my pension, I would go mushroom picking or fishing. And I’m still working, traveling around the world – admitted Wałęsa in an interview with “Fakt”.

Resignation from ZUS pension

Lech Wałęsa has repeatedly emphasized that he does not receive a pension from ZUS, although he is fully entitled to it. He justifies this decision by concern for the state’s finances.

– I have not received a pension for 20 years, not a penny at all, because Poland is poor – confessed the former president.

Pension indexation in 2025

According to the budget assumptions for 2025, pensions and annuities in Poland are to be increased by 5.52%. as part of the annual indexation, which takes place on March 1.

However, the specific amounts of the increases will be announced only at the beginning of next year, when the data on average annual inflation for 2024 and wage growth in the economy will be known.

This indexation is aimed at ensuring greater financial stability for retirees in the face of rising living costs. However, the exact impact of this change on the benefits of people like Lech Wałęsa remains uncertain.
