German technical thought will go to Chinese hands. Volocopter, a pioneer in the flying car industry, will be sold.
“Possible purchase of Volocopter: China is still focusing on flying taxis,” said “Tagesschau” on the post on Platform X.
“The Chinese company Zhejiang Wanfeng Auto Wheel Co. agreed to take over the German manufacturer Evtol (electric pioneers) Volocopter, who is currently undergoing the bankruptcy process,” writes “Ainonline.com”, citing “China Evtol News”. Information is also confirmed by German media. The subsidiary Wanfeng, Heptus 591 GmbH, signed a contract for the purchase of assets with the court administrator Tobias Wahl, covering intellectual property rights and contract obligations.
The Chinese will buy a Volocopter for EUR 10 million
The accounting value of Volocoptera’s assets has been estimated at 42 million euros, while Wanfeng will pay 10 million euros for the company. The price was determined on the basis of the state of assets and the progress of work on the two -seater Evtol Volocity model as at the date of signing the contract, i.e. on March 5, 2025. The Chinese company emphasizes that the negotiations went in a friendly atmosphere and were beneficial to both sides.
The Chinese are already testing air taxis
According to the “Tagesschau” service, taxi air is already tested in China.
The “Altair” website reports that Volocity will be able to fly in China as an autonomous Evtol aircraft, transporting two passengers without a pilot. “The group plans to certify Volocity in accordance with the Chinese provisions AP-21-AA-2023-11R1.
“Until next year, they are to be available in six Chinese cities, including metropolises such as Shenzhen, Hefei, Hangzhou and Chongqing,” writes the German website.

Volocopter is a German company dealing in the development of electric vertical flights (Evtol). Established in 2011, the start-up is one of the pioneers in the field of urban air mobility. His flagship model, Volocity, is a two -seater Evtol designed for passenger transport. The company has been struggling with financial problems for several years. After unsuccessful attempts to raise new funds, at the end of December 2024, Volocopter submitted an application to initiate bankruptcy proceedings.
