Varsovians love this festive accent. They will only be able to use the attractions in December

Świąteczne metro

The capital’s festive symbol has returned. Warsaw residents and tourists can only use it for a month.

From December 4, you can already see ZTM Christmas trains on the streets of Warsaw. Colorful buses, trams and glowing metro trains can be found on many routes throughout the city. Everyone who wants to see this unique attraction, which over the years has become a symbol of the capital during the Christmas season, must hurry up. The campaign will last only until the beginning of January. To use it, all you need is a regular public transport ticket.

Christmas metro in Warsaw again

Every year, the best harbinger of the upcoming Christmas is the changed appearance of Warsaw public transport. At the beginning of December, some suburban train carriages, as well as some trams and buses, change beyond recognition and take on colorful colors. Warsaw residents liked their new look so much that they cannot imagine the Christmas atmosphere in the city without them. This year, this tradition, cultivated for years, also returned to the largest city in Poland. The first decorated vehicles can be seen from the morning hours of December 4. Warsaw showed its residents that the holidays are just around the corner.

Where can you see colorful vehicles?

Intensive work on the transformation of the trains started at the end of November. In the photos posted on the profile of the Capital City of Warsaw, we can see what the process of decorating the warehouses looked like to make them look worthy during the holiday season. There was a lot of admiration in the comments under the post, but we could also read wishes for more colorful compositions in the future. The charm of the whole attraction, however, is that you never know for sure whether you will be able to catch the Christmas transport. However, we know what routes these unusual trains, buses and trams will run on. According to the city, the Star metro will be easiest to find at the beginning on the M1 Kabaty-Młociny line. However, every week, on the night from Sunday to Monday, changes will be introduced so that users of the M2 line can also take advantage of the attractions.

What does it look like in the case of buses and trams? This is where things get a bit more complicated, because there are many more lines to handle. The electric Solaris Urbino 18 in its Christmas version will run at various times, including: lines 111, 116, 128, 175 and 507, starting Wednesday morning. “In turn, the Christmas tram will run on Warsaw routes for the fourth year in a row, but for the first time it will be a two-way Swing Duo train (no. 3502). It will run on regular lines, but they will change – so that the colorful car will visit every corner of the capital reached by tram tracks,” we read on the city’s website. The first route will leave on the Warsaw tracks at 5:40 p.m. on December 4 with line number 23 from the Zajezdnia Wola stop towards the Old Town. A day later, the tram will be available on line 16, and on St. Nicholas Day – on line 26.
