Valorization of pensions higher than assumed? The lowest pension would increase by PLN 150

At the beginning of March, pensions will be valorized. If the proposal of the Minister of Work is favorable, then the minimum benefit will increase by over PLN 150.
In just over three weeks, pensions will be valorized. The increase in these benefits in Poland is determined on the basis of a specially calculated average annual price index of consumer goods and services from the previous year, as well as a real increase in average salary. To calculate the amount of the increase to the inflation rate, at least 20 percent are added. real wage increase.
Valorization of pensions higher than assumed?
Meanwhile, Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy, proposed to increase the share of salary growth in determining the valorisation rate from 20 to 50 percent.
If the proposal of the head of the labor department came into force, then the indexation rate would be about 8.5 percent, and not – as current forecasts assume – 5.5 percent. Accurate calculations will be known at the beginning of next week, when the Central Statistical Office (GUS) presents the final data on remuneration last year. Last year, valorisation was 12.12 percent, and in 2023 a record 14.8 percent, which was related to the highest inflation for years.
The calculations presented by Radio ZET show that valorisation at 5.5 percent It would mean raising a minimum pension from the existing PLN 1780.96 to PLN 1878.91 gross. However, if the government complied with Dziemianowicz-Bąk’s proposals then the lowest pension would increase to PLN 1932.34 gross, i.e. just over PLN 150. This would also be the amount of the 13th pension, which will traditionally be paid in April. Seniors will probably also receive a retirement in autumn. In this case, however, the benefit of a minimum pension will be granted to seniors, whose regular benefit does not exceed PLN 2,900 gross. In other cases, the “zloty for a zloty” mechanism is used.
