Urban planning for spatial chaos. “These two examples are enough”
It might seem that spatial development plans are established to prevent urban chaos and to ensure that cities and districts retain their coherent character. However, it sometimes happens that decisions go in a completely opposite direction, contrary to what is logical and natural for local development. Also for the comfort of future residents. Two examples will be enough.
Milanówek, together with Brwinów and Podkowa Leśna, is the “Tricity of Gardens near Warsaw”. The name and history oblige. Before the war, wealthy Warsaw residents built lavish summer houses and impressive villas here. They are still standing today, some are thoroughly renovated and are taking on a new life. Around the so-called PRL Mazowieckie cube, but more and more new single-family houses with interesting designs.
Blocks of flats outside the city
The authorities of the three cities rightly ensure that the development is not too dense, the shapes of new houses cannot overwhelm the surroundings, so consents are granted for a small plot area. Local governments are also reluctant to divide plots into smaller ones. It’s supposed to be like in the gardens.
But suddenly, to the surprise of the residents, a fence appears with a visualization of the estate on it. Next to it is a sales office.
