PLN 8,000 for house owners and the problem of water availability

As Urszula Zielińska emphasized during the European Economic Congress in Katowice, Poland must accelerate actions related to adaptation to climate change and protection of water resources. In the deputy minister’s opinion, the availability of drinking water is becoming an increasing challenge.

It was also pointed out that many large cities in the world face the risk of water shortages. According to the information presented, Poland has limited water resources, which is why retention activities are to become increasingly important.

PLN 8,000 for house owners. What will the funds be used for?

The program budget is expected to amount to PLN 173 million. Support will include, among others, installations for collecting rainwater or meltwater from roofs, sidewalks and driveways, as well as rainwater storage systems in tight tanks with a total capacity of at least 2 cubic meters.

The funding can also be used to untighten the surface, build absorption wells, drainage, and install infiltration boxes or open tanks. The program will also include devices that allow the use of collected water, such as pumps and sprinklers.

PLN 8,000 for house owners. When will applications start?

The subsidy is to cover costs incurred from July 1, 2024. Applications can be submitted to regional environmental protection funds.

The new program refers to the previous “Moja Woda” initiative, implemented in 2020, 2021 and 2023. All editions enjoyed great interest, and the available funds were used in a very short time. This time, the government once again wants to encourage residents to retain rainwater where it occurs and increase household retention.
