Ukrainian goalkeeper about Legia Warszawa fans. Strong words were spoken
Legia Warszawa won on Thursday evening against Shakhtar Donetsk (2:1) in the UEFA Conference League. The atmosphere during the match in Krakow was tense.
In fact, it started before the referee’s first whistle. An hour before the start of the competition on the pitch, there was information about the boycott of Legia Warszawa fans in the context of the appearance of the Wisła Kraków stadium in the stands. Reason? Ban on bringing a flag with the slogan “We remember Volhynia”.
UEFA Conference League: Kyrylo Fesyun brutally about Legia Warszawa fans
Ultimately, the guest sector was filled with about 1.5 thousand fans of the Warsaw club. After the intervention, among others, representatives of Wisła Kraków (such reports were received during the match), Legia fans could bring the mentioned flag to the stand. What’s more, it was even posted on the fence surrounding the visitors’ sector. After a few minutes, the flag was taken down.
Additionally, vulgar shouts were shouted at Ukrainians. Shakhtar Donetsk itself, as a club, was also hit on the head. Warsaw fans were far from being polite towards the hosts of the match. Shakhtar plays its matches in European cups in Krakow. The situation is, of course, related to the very difficult situation regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine.
User BuckarooBanzai, known for his activity on the X website, posted a recording of the Shakhtar goalkeeper’s statement on Friday afternoon. Kyrylo Fesyun was asked about offensive shouts towards the Ukrainian side coming from the Ukrainian sector. The player of Legia’s Thursday rival did not bite his tongue.
– Honestly, I noticed them (Legia fans, eMPe) around the 40th minute. I heard something there. Well… like cattle, to be honest,” Fesyun admitted.
It can be expected that this statement will be widely echoed. Although the competition on the pitch has ended, there is no doubt that the very fact of the tense atmosphere and considerable interest in the event – which we also described – may again provoke a lot of comments, this time in the context of the words of the 23-year-old Shakhtar goalkeeper.
