In Atlanta, at the world’s largest airport, there was a collision of planes near the runway. Two planes collided.

An unusual and potentially dangerous situation occurred on Tuesday morning – around 10:10 a.m. local time – on the tarmac of Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Two planes collided there: an Airbus A350 of Delta flying to Tokyo and a Bombardier CRJ-900 belonging to Endeavor Air (a subsidiary of Delta Air Lines) and flying to Lafayette, Louisiana.

While the Airbus was taxiing for takeoff, the tip of its wing caught on the Bombardier’s tail. Photos documenting the damage have appeared online.

There were 221 passengers on board the Delta Air Lines plane. In turn, there were 56 passengers in the Bombardier. No one was hurt – we read on CBS News.

An airport spokesman said the people on one of the planes were taken by bus from the scene to the terminal. The other plane taxied on its own. Those on board got off at the gate. However, he did not say which plane was which.

Passengers were offered alternative connections to their destinations, the airline stressed.

The Federal Aviation Administration said it would investigate the incident.
