Two Mysterious Deaths in Warsaw Have One Cause? The Situation Is Alarming
An increasing number of deaths in the Polish capital may be related to mind-altering substances. Two men who died within two weeks of each other may have been under the influence of dangerous drugs. More and more people in Warsaw are being detained for possession of illegal substances in large quantities.
On the night of May 30, a young man jumped out of the window of a tenement house in the centre of Warsaw. The police were called to the scene. Despite falling from a great height, the 25-year-old behaved aggressively towards the officers. Despite the orders given, he did not want to obey them, so they decided to use force against him – they overpowered him. After some time, he lost consciousness. The officers immediately began to provide him with help until the previously called medical rescue team arrived at the scene. When his condition improved, he was transported to a nearby medical facility. When the 25-year-old was examined, it turned out that he had a broken spine in the cervical region and a contusion of the lung. It also turned out that he was under the influence of drugs. He died on May 31. The police searched his apartment, where they found, among other things, mephedrone – describes “Gazeta Wyborcza”.
These drugs are becoming more and more popular
Two weeks later, another disturbing situation occurred. On June 14, a half-naked man was walking through one of the districts – Ochota. At one point, he started destroying someone’s property (a parked car). He also harassed people – he beat up two people. When the police were called to the scene, he started behaving aggressively. Just like the 25-year-old, he did not follow the police’s orders, so they used force. He was overpowered. An ambulance was called to the scene and then he was transported to one of the psychiatric hospitals. At one point, he stopped breathing (this happened shortly after he received sedatives). Then they immediately started resuscitating the man, but despite this, he died on June 15.
The situation in the capital is getting worse and worse. “Over the course of a few, maybe a dozen or so months, more and more people are being arrested with large amounts of drugs. This mainly concerns mephedrone, cocaine, and marijuana,” Piotr Skiba, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, told “GW”.
Fentanyl. The services have secured 1/4 kilogram of the substance over 26 months
Another drug is becoming increasingly popular in Poland – fentanyl, which is extremely dangerous to health. As indicated by the Police Headquarters, from January 2022 to mid-April 2024, the services seized over 252 grams of the substance.
It is worth mentioning in this context that one gram of fentanyl is capable of killing several hundred people. The quantity secured by the police, although it seems small, could wipe out an entire city – such as Tarnów, Kalisz or Koszalin.
