Two aircraft in the same runway. There was no collision
A shocking incident occurred at the airport in the city of Mexico City. One of the pilots started while a different plane landed in the same lane.
An investigation into the incident was initiated, which took place on Monday at the Benito Juárez international airport in Mexico City. Two machines, Delta Air Lines aircraft and Aeroméxico aircraft almost collided during maneuvers on the runway. While one of the pilots approached the landing, the other aircraft accelerated to start. Fortunately, experienced captains managed to avoid the tragedy.
The planes have passed 60 meters
At the airport in the city of Mexico on Monday, two aircraft collided. At a crucial moment, the machines passed with each other by just sixty meters. The Embraer 190 regional aircraft belonging to the Aeroméxico line flew over the accelerating Boeing 737 aircraft Delta Air Lines, and then landed in front of them on the runway. The pilots of the starting machine interrupted the operations and returned to the terminal. Passengers of this aircraft flew to the Atlanta with a three -hour delay.
“Errors can happen”
This disturbing event aroused questions about the safety of flights in the Mexican sky. Were it not for the quick reaction and sharp braking of one of the pilots, a huge tragedy would occur at the airport in the capital of the country – there were a total of over two hundred people on board both aircraft.
The President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum assured that passengers do not have to worry about their safety. “Errors can always happen. Fortunately, nothing serious has happened in this case. We are currently analyzing the situation and take all necessary measures to prevent a similar incident from repeating,” she said at a press conference on Wednesday.
The case at the airport in Mexico was reported to the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transport Security Council, which will conduct the necessary investigation. In the past, Delta Air Lines airlines have already participated in a similar collision.
