Prime Minister Tusk addressed the citizens before the government meeting. He talked about the “coup” that Law and Justice, two Confederations and President Nawrocki are “preparing.” An important EU program in the background.
Another government meeting was held in Warsaw. The heads of ministries gathered in the building of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister in Warsaw.
Before the meeting started, Donald Tusk turned to Poles. He talked about the SAFE (Security Action for Europe) program, an initiative of the European Union that in 2025 decided to grant loans to member states for defense modernization. He also addressed a few words to representatives of the opposition and Karol Nawrocki. – Think about whether you really want to strike at the heart of the Republic of Poland when there is such a cruel war abroad. No one will forgive you for this and you are not doing anyone any favors by helping to implement this program, he said.
“Hundreds of billions of zlotys in loans on very favorable terms”
Tusk talked about last night – the one from February 16 to 17. – It showed (…) how important is the money that our government and our people – also in Brussels – managed to organize in the EU. We are talking about hundreds of billions of zlotys of additional loans on very favorable terms, which are intended to serve the Polish arms industry and Polish defense, including air defense – said the Prime Minister.
The head of government pointed out that from Monday to Tuesday, Moscow attacked Kiev using over 400 “air attack means.” – We remember the Russian drone attack in Poland in September, so let’s imagine what 400 armed drones mean. The target of the attack was energy infrastructure, he pointed out.
He also explained what the EU money would be spent on. – 90 percent of the expenses related to our air and anti-drone defense in the SAN program will come from SAFE funds, this great project. 90 percent Our security depends on the effective financing and organization of this air defense, he emphasized.
Subcarpathian steelworks for the arms industry and PLN 20 billion
Tusk’s speech also included the topic of the Stalowa Wola Steelworks. – from the SAFE program, the investment value will exceed PLN 20 billion. This is not my forecast, but that of the Armament Agency, he said. In this context, he spoke about the opposition’s “coup”. – This attack on Stalowa Wola is even more nasty because – as you know – they are still planning to hold their party conventions there on Saturday (February 21 – ed.). Exactly at the same time as they are making an attack on PLN 20 billion. It is very difficult for me to understand, in fact I cannot understand, what motivates those who are currently deciding to try to block this money – he noted.
The Prime Minister announced that even if Nawrocki vetoes the bill, the government will find a way to “save some of the funds.” – But it will cost time, it will also cost some money and nerves – he emphasized.
