Travel to a spa abroad. Not only seniors can receive a refund

Polish spas are full of charm and can be found in various parts of the country. However, if you have already visited so many places that you want to discover something completely different a bit further, you should think about a foreign stay. Sanatoriums with a refund are available, but several conditions must be met.

A spas abroad with a good solution

The surcharge for stay in a foreign health resort is possible thanks to the cross -border directive in the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). Thanks to it, anyone interested can benefit from treatment outside Poland and recover some of the money intended for this purpose.

This is a great opportunity for those who would like to avoid long waiting for their stay in Poland, at the same time they are terrified by high costs of travel abroad, especially if they need to stay in place longer and use specialized treatments. Ultimately, we are often scared and give up an interesting adventure. It turns out that it doesn’t always have to be like that.

Co -financing of a sanatorium abroad

A patient treated in Poland who wants to use a surcharge for a stay in a sanatorium abroad must obtain a referral from the attending physician – the more detailed, the better. You also have to be ready to cover the costs of treatment – stay and procedures yourself, because submitting an application for a refund is possible only after returning from the stay.

The application for an additional payment together with medical and financial documentation is submitted to the National Health Fund. We can only submit it if we were in a country belonging to the EU/EFTA. The document is available on the official NFZ website. Documents are submitted in the relevant branch of the office within 6 months of the date of issuing the invoice by the doctor.

The return will probably not be full. It may be limited to rates in Poland, which means that if the same study in Germany costs PLN 50 and in Poland PLN 30, we will receive a refund in accordance with prices in our country. We must remember that the state will not pay the costs of transport, accommodation and meals.

You can apply for a refund even if you organize a trip to the spa yourself, but each time you have to be insured and take care of the appropriate referral from a doctor from the NFZ clinic. This means that almost everyone who qualifies to stay in a spa has a chance for health reasons.
