Tragic news from the world of football. A death that shocked the environment

Wojciech Onsorge was most closely associated with the Greater Poland football community. The former player was born in 1994 in Poznań. He started his football adventure in the juniors of 1920 Mosina, but quickly moved to Warta Poznań.

“He played for the Greens for almost 13 years, until 2019. He made his debut in the first team in May 2012, during the Greens’ previous stay in the first league. Since then, he has only represented Warta, survived relegation to the third league and then returned to the top league. In 2019, he asked to terminate his contract in the hope of moving to a club where he would be able to count on more regular performances (…) He moved to Elana Toruń, and then Środa Wielkopolska. His last club was the reserves of Lech Poznań. He played most of his career as a defender and defensive midfielder. Recently, Onsorge has been fighting a malignant brain tumor,” we read on the website of the top league player from Poznań.

Lech Poznań Academy also informed about Onsorge’s death. It is worth emphasizing that after the diagnosis of the disease, Onsorge continued to function in the structures of the Polish champions from the last season (i.e. 2025/26) PKO BP Ekstraklasa.

Although he was originally recruited to the senior reserves, he found himself in the role of a scout who identified and trained talents. Onsorge led, among others, own football school in Luboń and Puszczykowo – towns in Greater Poland.

Back in April 2026, Onsorge happily informed on the X website about Hubert Janyszek’s debut in the senior colors of Kolejorz, on the top league pitches.

Onsorge died at the age of only 32. The funeral will take place next Friday (i.e. September 4) in Mosin.
