A Frontier Airlines plane hit a pedestrian at the Denver airport. The services are now investigating the circumstances of the accident.
The incident occurred on May 8 around 23.00 local time. According to CBS News, shortly after takeoff, the pilot reported: “We just hit someone. The engine caught fire.”

On May 9, Denver International Airport issued a statement saying that “the pedestrian jumped over the airport security fence and was hit just two minutes later while crossing the runway. The person died at the scene. He is not believed to be an airport employee and his identity has not yet been established”.
Airport employees checked the fence – it turned out to be intact. When the accident occurred, the runway where the plane was located was closed.
“We are deeply saddened by this incident and extend our sympathies to all those affected.” – informed the airport.
An investigation into the plane accident is ongoing
US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy commented on the incident. He informed on website X that “the intruder violated airport security, deliberately breached the fence and ran onto the runway”.
“Local law enforcement agencies responsible for airport security are investigating with the assistance of the Federal Aviation Administration and the Transportation Security Administration.”.
There were a total of 231 people on board the plane. After the incident, they were transported to the terminal, some of them flew out of Denver on another plane. 12 reported minor injuries and five were transported to local hospitals.
John Anthens, who was on the plane with his son Jacob, told CBS News that he was sitting at a window above the wing when the incident occurred. He reported that he first noticed a spark and then an explosion near the engine of the machine.
