Tourists will be grateful for this change. A revolution in traveling is coming

Paszport

Traveling abroad often requires us to take our passport. It turns out that big changes related to this document are coming. The European Union has already revealed what it is about.

Poles have very good friendships with digitalization. From now on, we can use, among others: from the My Citizen application, where our ID card is available. When traveling around our country, you do not need to have a traditional badge, just log in to the system and download the electronic version. What if, in some time, this could also be the case with a passport?

Changes to passports. Travelers will thank you for it

Representatives of the European Commission came up with a modern idea. They announced that they plan to introduce electronic passports, thanks to which there will be no need to carry paper documents. This solution can be a treat, even for forgetful people. All you need is a phone to have everything you need while traveling.

Today, passports are required if we want to go to a country outside the EU. These include, for example, Great Britain. You can’t go without a valid book, but that’s about to change soon. “We want to make it easier for you to move around the EU. We have proposed new regulations regarding the digitization of ID cards and passports. The proposals will create a single standard for digital travel documents and increase security across the EU.” – we read in the EU announcement on the X platform.

This opinion was expressed, among others, by: EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson. “Today’s proposal to digitize passports and ID cards paves the way for more seamless and secure travel. It enables travelers to move more smoothly and quickly around the EU. We know that many Europeans consider this an advantage of our Union,” she commented.

Electronic passports. These are the plans

Electronic passports are to be valid in the future, but no specific date has been announced yet. The authorities are planning to create a special EU Digital Travel application, which is intended to enable the use of electronic documents. It would also include an ID card, so even when traveling within the EU, there would be no need to take traditional badges.

The new solution is to be used by all EU citizens, making travelers feel more comfortable while traveling. The new application is intended to enable earlier sending of documents to border services, which will shorten check-in times at airports and reduce queues. We will feel the differences most when traveling to countries outside the Schengen area.

The system is to be safe, among others: thanks to the fact that user data will be encrypted. The identity, in turn, will be verified using the latest technologies. It is known that despite the introduction of new products, traditional passports will not disappear, because only those interested will use the digital version. The EU Digital Travel application is expected to be fully implemented by 2030 at the latest.
