Tourists storm the Baltic Sea. “Polish Ibiza” a booking hit
Hotels located on the Baltic Sea enjoy a booking rate of up to 90%. And this despite price increases. The expert pointed out what tourists pay attention to.
One of the holiday destinations often chosen by Polish families is a trip to the Baltic Sea. In July, however, the weather was not favorable to tourists who wanted to spend their holidays in this place, and local entrepreneurs complained that reservations were being canceled in large numbers. Małgorzata Gipsiak, an expert from the Arche hotel chain, was asked about the 2026 holiday season.
Is emptiness on the Baltic Sea a myth? The expert revealed the data
– Hotels have even higher rates than last year. Our seaside facilities have an occupancy rate of up to 90%. In less touristic places, such as Podlasie, occupancy reaches 75%. You can see a lot of growth here – says the general director of the Arche Krakowska hotel in an interview with RadioZET.pl.
– More and more people value the high quality of time spent during their holidays. Some tourists may go on holiday once or twice a year, which is why they are willing to pay more for amenities that will ensure they have a quality rest. They are primarily looking for places that have a rich indoor offer, in case, for example, the weather deteriorates. Facilities with water parks or spa zones are very popular – adds the expert.
Prices on the Baltic Sea are up. “Polish Ibiza” a booking hit
Małgorzata Gipsiak points out that prices have actually increased, but at the same time hoteliers are aware that prohibitive rates may make tourists choose to rest at a campsite or abroad. Interestingly, there is also a noticeable trend that there are more and more two- and four-day bookings, and fewer and fewer one- and two-week bookings.
As for seaside locations, in July in Western Pomerania the greatest increases in interest were recorded in Mielno, which is called the “Polish Ibiza” due to the large number of attractions and rich nightlife. – Mielno has a very high occupancy rate. We are seeing a clear year-on-year increase here. This is due to, among others, tourists from abroad – from Scandinavia and Germany. Our offer is designed to reach them, says the expert.
