Tourists love this attraction in Lower Silesia. There is good news

One of the most famous military facilities in Poland will be open to guests every day. The place was awarded as one of the miracles of our country.
Lower Silesia, which suffered a lot as a result of autumn floods, has a lot to offer tourists. One of its most famous attractions is the Prussian fort, the largest object of the Nysa Fortress (Opolskie Voivodeship). Although the view of it is the most impressive from the drone (it has the shape of a five -pointed star), only the entrance inside allows you to get acquainted with its rich story. In 2023, the National Geographic Traveler placed the Fortress of Nysa on the list of Polish miracles, on the place 9. Although the water did not spare and this place (it broke into the bastion of St. Jadwiga, among others), the other objects invite guests.
Fort Prussia in Nysa. What is this place?
Campaigns encouraging tourists to learn about the beauty of Lower Silesia bring a positive effect. “Due to the great interest and the growing number of visitors to Fort Prussia, it opens its gates every day. Now you can visit this extraordinary place throughout the week” – the message on Facebook is the facility.
The fort was part of the powerful Nysa defense system while it was under Prussian rule. Its construction began in 1743–1745, and later it was expanded and modernized several times. In the years 1859-69 the place served as barracks and prisons, and from 1914 military equipment was stored here.
Visiting with a guide. Underground corridors
While visiting with a guide, you can also learn less known curiosities about this place. Under the wall of the fort, there are underground corridors that have not been fully studied to this day. “Legends say that they were used not only for transporting soldiers, but also for hiding treasures and important documents,” we read on the facility’s website.
Currently, inside the fort houses the Military Museum, and in the courtyard a playground and a place of rest. You can also relax in the city park, where the water fort is located. There are many more facilities in the fortress (including forts I, II and III). In the bastion of St. Jadwiga housed a tourist information point.
After the flood, it operates in the Nysa House of Culture (ul. Wałowa 7), and other attractions in the facility (e.g. VR cinema) are temporarily inaccessible.
