Tourists, however, will pay less. A surprising change in Zakopane
Just a few days ago, tourists were threatened that in the famous Zakopane they would pay more for their stay on the spot. Now good news has appeared. Not only that we will not see a raise, we will spend less.
Zakopane is still one favorite directions of Poles. The place is even iconic and although some complain about crowds and high prices, they still look there regardless of the season. Soon information appeared that could scare some of them, it was about increases in local fees that are charged from tourists sleeping in the city. Ultimately, it should be better than announced.
A reduction instead of a raise in Zakopane
The City Hall dealt with a change in the prices of local fees. A few days ago, information appeared that tourists, instead of paying PLN 2, would pay PLN 2.50. On Thursday, March 27, it turned out that it was decided to reduce. Tourists will eventually pay less than before, i.e. PLN 1.90. It is known that the new rate is already approved by the mayor. Last Thursday, councilors finally adopted the project.
“I think that the reduction may encourage more entrepreneurs to charge this fee from tourists. This money supports tourist infrastructure in the city. And as we know, it must be prepared not for a city of 25,000 inhabitants, but for a much greater traffic. This money is also for the development of public transport. It is an infrastructure that serves not only tourists, but also residents, because they also use it,” Mayor.
An unexpected decision is to be a nod to entrepreneurs from the tourism industry in the city and tourists themselves. This sudden twist will certainly appeal to all visitors, especially those who go to Zakopane this season. There will also be bad sides, because revenues to the budget of the city of Zakopane will fall by approx. 140 thousand. PLN per year.
This is the beginning of changes for the better
The decision to reduce the local fee in Zakopane is just one of many movements that are to be positively received by visitors. It has long been known that the city is also working on introducing a tourist card with a package of discounts and benefits. All this is to support the tourism industry and local entrepreneurs.
