Tourists have gone crazy about this attraction. There is no other like it in the whole country.

Tourists have appreciated an unusual point in Europe. The attraction has become the only working telephone booth in France. Looking at it, you can have the impression that you have traveled back in time.

France is primarily associated with attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, Versailles or Disneyland. Few people, when thinking about this country, have an old and forgotten telephone booth in mind. It turns out that such an object is becoming increasingly valuable there. The number of tourists is growing day by day. Everyone wants to admire and… call.

An unusual attraction in France

The attraction is unusual, because it is the only working telephone booth in the entire country. It can be found in the small town of Murbach in the Upper Rhine department. The town has about 160 inhabitants. Until recently, they could count on relative peace and quiet. Tourists who came to the place were mainly delighted with the famous monument, the Benedictine abbey from the 18th century. Now they prefer something different.

The booth stands next to a municipal car park and attracts crowds. As reported by AFP, it has gained sudden and unexpected popularity. “The last working telephone booth in France, installed in the white zone in the Alsatian village of Murbach, is arousing enthusiasm fuelled by nostalgia for the vintage era,” one post on the X platform said.

The telephone booth is a hit

The telephone booth in Murbach has a special significance and is not available there without reason. The aforementioned town is characterized by a very specific terrain. Because of this, classic mobile phone transmitters cannot be installed there, although the internet works. Booth no. 468 is used to call emergency phones. It does not have a slot for coins or cards, which were once used in such machines, but it does have its own telephone number, which can be called.

Since the media published the number of the booth, tourists and locals have gone crazy over it. It turns out that the phone is still ringing. The clerk, Esmeralda Mura, left a pen and paper in the booth so that whoever answers can take a note of the conversation. As AFP reports, the bell rings regularly, although sometimes without effect, even if someone picks up out of curiosity.

People who have had the opportunity to use the booth have noticed that it has a good spirit. One of the businessmen argued that in the past, relationships between people were better, while today technology has chained people to their smartphones.
