Tourists from Poland loved the “Pearl of the Atlantic”. We were not enough for sunbathing here
Madeira became one of the Poles’ favorite directions on vacation. Tourists even gained the opinion of demanding and those who like active rest.
Tourists from Poland are increasingly reaching not only Malta in the Mediterranean. Landing on one of the most demanding of European airports for pilots and slightly higher airline ticket prices do not deter tourists before exploring Madeira, the archipelago belonging to Portugal. The airport managing the company Ana said that the increase in the number of tourists from our country is visible. From January to July this year, the Archipelago in the Atlantic was visited by over 89.3 thousand people from Poland, i.e. almost 39 percent more compared to the same period of 2024. In terms of numbers, only the Germans and the French overtook us.
Madera, a hit among Polish tourists. Not only the beaches
Poles are increasingly relaxing on the smaller island of Porto Santo than Madeira. A hotel employee in Vila Baleira admitted that in recent years he noticed more Polish vacationers on this island and described them as “demanding tourists”.
“Poles are not limited to lying on the beach. Many of them go on bicycle trips on the island, kayaks, snorkeling, as well as diving in search of ships embedded at the shore. On Porto Santo they like to spend a vacation in an active way,” said the interlocutor of PAP.
Island of eternal spring
What does the “Eternal Spring Island” or “Pearl of the Atlantic” offer, how is Madeira referred to in tourist folders? We wrote more about it here. “The breathtaking views of the cliffs, picturesque Lewada, vegetation, which we will not find at any other place, and delicious cuisine and surfing spots” – this is just the beginning.
We will reach Madeira from Poland directly from Warsaw, Katowice and Poznań. Many Polish vacationers also decide on flights with a change in Lisbon. To the smaller island of Porto Santo (it is 43 km northeast) from Madeira you can fly by plane or swim to it by ferry.
