Hackers carried out a successful attack on Booking. Representatives of the platform informed that “unauthorized persons” gained access to customer data.

Booking is a giant intermediating in accommodation reservations (including hotels, apartments), although over the years the platform has expanded its services (including car rental). Here are the details.

Cyber attack on Booking. Here is the platform user data that may have been leaked

Booking admitted that it “noticed suspicious activity involving unauthorized third parties gaining access to certain guest reservation information.” “After detecting these activities, we have taken steps to control the situation,” the platform assured.

The giant’s representatives also wrote what specific moves they made in connection with the cyberattack. “We have updated the PIN codes (personal identification numbers – editor’s note) for these reservations and informed our guests about this,” the statement reads.

It is not known how many users of the platform the hackers had access to. Booking assured that they “did not gain access” to “financial information.” “Based on the findings of our investigation to date, the information accessed may include booking details and names, email addresses, addresses, telephone numbers associated with the booking and any data you may have shared with the accommodation,” the press office said.

Such frauds take place on Booking. Better be careful

At this point, it is worth recalling the frauds that occur on this platform. The daily “De Telegraaf” once warned about cybercriminals who access Booking hotel accounts and send fake messages to guests, urging them to pay and threatening to cancel their reservations.

The platform boasts that it offers over 30 million accommodation facilities around the world (including hostels, hotels, apartments, flats, etc.).
