Tourist outraged by parking costs in the Tatras. “Highlanders have gone crazy”
Tourists planning a hike in the White Water Valley should expect huge interest. This translates into high parking prices, as one of the tourists pointed out.
During the peak tourist season, some places in Poland experience a real siege. It turns out that “horror receipts” are not only a reality for guests of seaside restaurants. Tourists who intend to leave their cars in the Tatras must also prepare for a large expense. The parking lots are crowded on both the Polish and Slovak sides.
Crowds in parking lots in the Tatra Mountains
This was noticed by Mrs. Agnieszka, who planned a hike in the Biała Woda Valley in the Slovak Tatras, close to the border with Poland, at the height of the Roztoka Valley Shelter and Morskie Oko. She chose the blue trail, which leads from Łysa Polana along Białka and Biała Woda.
Finding a parking space on the Polish side was impossible, and she and her husband eventually drove to the Slovak border. The nearest parking lot was also bursting at the seams. “They wouldn’t let us in, even though I had heard that some cars had reservations in advance,” the tourist told Wirtualna Polska.
Finally, the tourists pulled up in front of a shop on Łysa Polana, on the Slovak side. “I went up to the gentleman to ask if there was a parking space. He asked how many cars, and I said one. He turned his nose up at me, but said I could drive up,” said Ms. Agnieszka.
Parking prices on the Slovak side. “Robbery”
In her conversation with the portal, Ms. Agnieszka did not hide her surprise at the parking price. – You told me 120! You told another person that it had to be that price, otherwise you would go bankrupt – said the tourist. – We parked because we wanted to go to this valley, but this is daylight robbery. The highlanders have gone mad – she assessed. Additionally, there was information in front of the store that for parking over 30 minutes you have to pay 300 PLN.
This is much more than the price of parking tickets near Morskie Oko. Currently, the parking lot at Palenica Białczańska can be booked for a price of PLN 36 per day. After clicking on the reservation system, the price is PLN 55, for the whole of July. Parking spaces near the lake, which is besieged by tourists, are filling up quickly, and police officers warn that leaving a car anywhere can result in severe penalties. Participants in the Tatromaniacy group suggest that a good option is to arrive by bus.
