Ticks don’t like this blood type. Scientists conducted an experiment

Ticks on the attack. Protect your loved ones against tick-borne encephalitis

Ticks carry very dangerous diseases, such as Lyme disease and TBE encephalitis. As it turns out, people with a certain blood type may feel safer in the company of these arachnids.

Scientists from Masaryk University collected Ixodes ricinus ticks for research in 2018 in the Ruda region of Brno. They also took blood samples from volunteers, which they placed in Petri dishes.

The result? It turns out that ticks may have preferences regarding the biochemical profile of an individual.

Ticks chose this blood group in as many as 85 percent of cases.

The researchers “served” a hundred nymphs with drops of blood from groups A and B. The result? Much more often – as much as 85 percent of individuals – they were drawn to option number two. It should be emphasized, however, that the experiment requires repetition and deeper observations.

But that’s not all. If you want to learn useful information about ticks, it’s worth determining how many of them live near you – in gardens, on grass, on arborvitaes, etc. To do this, just take a terry towel, wrap it around a mop handle, and then, with the “tool” thus prepared, drag it over each plant and substrate several times.

Check if there are ticks living on your property

If arachnids live on the property – and this is almost certain – they will reveal themselves on the white material to which they attach themselves. If the number of arthropods has scared us, we can prepare a mixture that is worth spraying the yard. It is easy to prepare and effectively repels arachnids for a long time.

Mix together a vinegar solution (100 milliliters of vinegar per liter of water), garlic extract (five milligrams), and rosemary essential oil (5 ml). Shake thoroughly and spray the grass or thuja. To achieve the highest possible effectiveness, repeat the process every 1-2 hours.

Proven method – repellent with DEET

Another, equally effective method is to use a chemical repellent with DEET (N-Diethyl-m-toluamide), picaridin or IR 3535 (ethyl 3-(N-Butylacetamido)propionate). We can buy these products in almost every pharmacy or store.
