The quarterfinal of the Indian Wells tournament was supposed to be a serious test for Iga Świątek, whether she is really returning to the highest level. The stakes were high: a semi-final of a prestigious tournament and very important points for the WTA ranking. In the previous rounds, the Pole defeated Maria Sakkari (6:3, 6:2) and Karolina Muchova (6:2, 6:0) without any major problems.
