Thousands of children will lose 800 plus from June? Parents must hurry!

Thousands of children may lose the right to 800 plus from June 1. The rules change – parents must meet an important condition until April 30.

From June 1, 2025, new regulations regarding the “Family 800 Plus” program will come into force. One of the key changes will be the dependence of the payment of the benefit on the fulfillment of the child’s school obligation in the Polish education system. The new regulations will affect the most families from Ukraine, which children do not attend schools in Poland.

Change in 800+

The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy has announced that from June educational benefit 800 plus and payments under the good start program will be entitled only to those families whose children perform school obligation in Poland. However, there is an exception to this principle: in the 2024/2025 school year, students of the last classes of schools operating in the Ukrainian educational system can continue their education online and still maintain the right to benefit.

In the first half of 2024, 800 plus received nearly 250,000 children from Ukraine. Changing the rules can therefore significantly affect the number of those entitled to the benefit.

The end of April is a key date. Applications for granting 800 plus for a new benefit period (from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026) can only be submitted until April 30 to maintain the continuity of payments. Submission of an application by the end of the month guarantees payment of benefits for June no later than on June 30. If the documents are received in May, the payment will cover June and July, and the money will go to the account by the end of July at the latest.

Payment with alignment

People who submit an application between June 1 and 30 can count on payment for three months: June, July and August – until August 31. However, exceeding this date results in the fact that the benefit will be granted and paid only for a month of submitting the application, without equalizing for the previous months.

An application for 800 plus can be submitted electronically – via the EMP@TIA portal, PUE ZUS platform, MZUS mobile application or via electronic banking. Submission of online documents remains the only available form of applying for a benefit.
