This sanatorium used to be full of life, but today it is haunted. A music video was created in it

Opuszczony hotel Zdrowie w 2014 roku

Once upon a time, the resort with a beautiful view of Orłowo attracted so many guests that floors were added to it. Today its ruins are terrifying.

Abandoned buildings enliven the imagination like few other places. They evoke sentiment for the holidays of our youth, as well as regret that attractive facilities in Poland are losing their potential and falling into ruin. This is not only the case with the abandoned holiday resort in Lucień.

Abandoned sanatorium and holiday center in Orłowo

Urbex lovers or simply enthusiasts of seaside views are also attracted by the decaying sanatorium in Gdynia Orłowo and its surroundings. The building is located at ul. Zaciszna 2A used to be full of life, but today it is in ruins. Particularly interesting is its rounded part – a canteen in the shape of a ground-floor rotunda.

The building once housed the former “Zdrowie” Prophylactic Home, or more specifically the Holiday and Treatment Home of the Trade Union of Municipal Economy and Field Industry Workers. The center operated for many years after the fall of communism as a year-round facility with 160 beds in 1, 2, 3 and 4-person rooms of various standards. On its website, archived today, the facility also boasted about affordable prices. It was closed in 2005 due to the risk of slope subsidence. Since then, it has been stolen and destroyed, and over time it was covered with graffiti. In 2014, photos were taken here for the video “Głupi ja” by Organek, although the video does not show the center in detail.

Further plans for the facility

The building was put into use as a two-story building in 1962. Due to the great interest of tourists, two more floors were added to it. The last, fifth part is the superstructure with a terrace. Even though those eager for adventure would like to climb to higher floors, it is impossible. As we learn from the video by tiktokerki @babeczkaztrojmiasta, the stairs were fenced off with a metal structure to keep curious people away and prevent accidents. From the slope there is a nice view of the pier in Orłowo.

A few years ago, a private investor dreamed of building a housing estate in this place. However, in 2019, the mayor of Gdynia did not agree to the area changing its function from service and tourism to residential. This would be inconsistent with the spatial development plan.
