This route returns after 50 years. Warsaw residents are to get to the center faster

On Tuesday morning, the first tram with passengers arrived in Warsaw’s Wilanów district. Lines 14 and 16 will run on the new section.
This investment has been bothering the residents of Mokotów (both Górny and Dolny) for a long time. It’s finally over.
On Tuesday, October 29, in the early morning hours, the first tram with passengers arrived in Miasteczko Wilanów. The tram left at 4:33 from Miasteczko Wilanów. The trains also moved in the opposite direction, from Bielany and Ochota. Thus, the housing estate in Wilanów, where there are many apartment buildings, has been connected to the center. As one of the tram passengers told Radio Kolor, she had previously stood in traffic jams to the center for up to two hours. Another added that the impressions were positive.
The tram reached Wilanów
The section of the new tram route runs along Belwederska, Sobieskiego and al. Rzeczypospolitej – from the intersection with Spacerowa to Miasteczko Wilanów.
The section put into operation is the longest tram section launched in Warsaw since the 1950s. It is also one of the longest sections of tram routes in the country. The Polish record holder is the route of the capital’s tram 10, which covers 24.5 kilometers and stops at 54 stops.
Two tram lines will transport passengers from Wilanów. 14 leads to the University of Technology and Ochota and thus returns to the timetable after 50 years. Tram No. 16 will take passengers to Marszałkowska, and then to the Radosława roundabout and the Piaski loop (half of the trips on the shortened route to Muranowska). The idea is to provide quick access to the city center. After introducing tram priorities in traffic lights, getting from Miasteczko Wilanów to Śródmieście will take less than half an hour.
Trams on line 14 leave every 8 minutes during rush hours, and on line 16 – every 4 minutes.
This is not the end of the expansion of the tram network in the capital. Construction of a tram on ul. is underway. Rakowiecka and along ul. Battle of Warsaw 1920 to the underground stop at the Western Railway Station.
