This Polish health resort looks like something out of a fairy tale. It is even more beautiful in winter

A trip to health resorts in winter is a good idea to improve your health and relax in beautiful towns in Poland. Although visitors to Lower Silesia flock to the most popular Lądek-Zdrój (the health resort has already recovered from the disastrous flood), it is also worth looking for other locations.

Szczawno-Zdrój. What does the spa offer?

A good option for a winter trip may be Szczawno-Zdrój, located near Wałbrzych. Natural mineral waters – sorrel, together with the refreshing foothill climate, constitute the health resort character of the town. The first sanatorium was established here in 1815 and was modeled on resorts from Switzerland, Austria-Hungary and Prussia. The local complex of spa buildings from 1822-1894 is entered in the provincial register of monuments.

The historical buildings of this city will take you back in time, and the town looks beautiful in winter.

Currently, Szczawno-Zdrój is also a modern and well-equipped treatment, rehabilitation and recreation center. Here you will find the Szczawno-Jedlina SA Spa and the Azalia Sanatorium.

English-style parks and an observation tower in Lower Silesia

After the treatments, patients can go to parks styled after the English, Swedish and Zdrojowy parks. The panorama of Szczawno can be admired from the Anna (Clock) Tower. It is located in the park on a slope, in the former place of the pagan cult of healing waters.

Are you close to Szczawno-Zdrój? This weekend there is another good opportunity to visit there. On Day 14-15, a Christmas fair will be held in the wooden walking hall. Between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. you will be able to buy gifts, try Christmas dishes and take part in a knowledge competition about this spa town.

The location of the fair will make it more intimate than similar events in large cities, which are already famous in foreign media.
