Polish city-archipelago on 44 islands

If you know Świnoujście, you may have heard about the widest beach and spa atmosphere. There is also a lot of talk about local price lists in German, as this resort is full of guests from this country. At the same time, you may have heard such names as Wolin, Uznam and Karsibór. Each of them hides a different inhabited Polish island full of attractions. When going to the seaside to a city located in the north-western corner of Poland, be sure to include a visit to at least one of them in your sightseeing plan.

It is worth appreciating that Świnoujście is full of canals, lush nature, but also monuments. Moreover, it enjoys a long history and traditions, which are often known mainly to its inhabitants.

Świnoujście. This is what its inhabited islands offer

Uznam, Wolin, and Karsibór, the only inhabited islands of the Polish city-archipelago, are very diverse. The first of these is divided between two countries, Poland and Germany – they own 84%. area of Usedom.

The remaining two islands are exclusively Polish. Usedom offers nature reserves and landscape parks full of rare bird species. It also delights with its cliffs, pine forests and sandy beaches. Karsibór, on the other hand, is only 11 square kilometers and impresses with the houses of local fishermen.

The biggest gem is Wolin. There, beyond the sea, you will have a view of Lake Czajcze, Lake Domysłowskie or Lake Turquoise. Other attractions include the Piaskowa Góra viewing point, the Center of Slavs and Vikings, and Grodzisko Lubin and Wzgórze Zielonka. The remaining 41 uninhabited islands of our archipelago are small and unsuitable for development. It is a paradise for animals and nature.

The attractiveness of Świnoujście as an archipelago is another proof that you don’t always have to look abroad for unique attractions. Although in Europe countries such as Italy, Croatia and the Netherlands are associated with islands, Poland also has no reason to be ashamed.
