Many Polish attractions change for the better to serve tourists even longer and delight their new attractions. This is the case now, among others with the famous castle in Rytro.
Some time ago we mentioned that in July work at the Rabsztyn Castle in Lesser Poland began, now information about the revitalization of another known attraction has appeared. On August 18, the next stage of work in the castle in Rytro, in the same province, started. Tourists in this region will therefore be able to admire many new products. What will the announced revolution bring? Changes were announced.
The castle in Rytro is changing
The renovation of the castle in Rytro was announced at the beginning of this year. The first works began in May, but during the holidays tourists could visit the building. Now the object is closed and the revolution is coming in small steps. Until now, travelers admired the remains of the palace and its surroundings, and in the future there may be even more interested parties. The object is located on a characteristic steep hill above the Poprad River and it has been impressive for years.
This medieval castle has a long history, although it is not known who was its builder. The first mention of him comes from the time of King Władysław Łokietek. It is estimated that the greatest development of the facility went to the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, when, apart from defense and economic functions, it also fulfilled a representative function.
Tourists could enter the courtyard, celebrate walls or stand at the tower. There were also stairs and barriers to enter the walls and tower, from where beautiful views of the Poprad Valley and the peaks of Beskid Sądecki have. What will change after ongoing reconstruction?

The investment is to restore the castle’s historic character and make it more attractive for visitors. The pearl of the village of Rytro is to offer, among others Even more wonderful views of the surrounding hills, and also look more impressive.
According to the announcement of the head of the Rytro commune, Jan Kotarba shows that the tower will be increased, which will be roofed. The lock will be highlighted and the entry gate will be added. The facility is also to take on the shape that it had once.
It was announced that the works would last for the next few months, but during the summer of 2026 the castle should be made available to visitors.
