This place in Europe looks like an exotic paradise. You can get there in 2 hours from Poland

Kanion rzeki Shala w Albanii

Poles will fly to this European country in less than two hours. One of its places delights with its beauty and is called “The Thailand of Europe”.

The destination that Poles have begun to explore more and more boldly is Albania. The country on the Adriatic Peninsula has access to two seas (Adriatic and Ionian) and you can find attractively priced holiday offers there. That’s why this summer Albania took 7th place among the most frequently chosen countries for holidays in the flight + hotel option. Polish tourists were most likely to make reservations in seaside towns Durrës and Golem and the capital of the country, Tirana.

Albania. This place is called “The Thailand of Europe”

However, it was not these places that made Albania associated with an exotic country in Asia. The area around the Shala River, a tributary of the Drin in the north of the country, is called “Albanian Thailand”. The river flows from a valley in the North Albanian Mountains and stretches for 35 km to Lake Koman. The place delights with its turquoise water and lush vegetation surrounding it. Here you can see intensely green hills that are so high that they seem to touch the sky.

You can walk along the Shala River or just relax surrounded by beautiful nature. Lovers of active recreation will also find something for themselves here. Tourist infrastructure has developed around. Those interested will benefit from, among others: from ziplining, diving, swimming, and kayaking.

Over 20 degrees in October. Destination for an autumn trip

The popularity of the Shala area will certainly grow, as Internet users are already raving about its beautiful views. However, you can expect fewer crowds here during the off-season. The Shala River can only be reached by water by crossing Lake Koman. The marina is located in the village of the same name, and from there motorboats take tourists to the mouth of the river.

It is worth knowing that in October the temperatures here are pleasant, but not hot (about 25 degrees), and in November about 16 degrees. This is a good opportunity to explore the Balkans off-season and feel a bit like in Thailand.
