Madagascar attracts lovers of the ocean, exotic plants and animals. Although a trip to this country has never been cheap, from February 16, 2026 you have to pay even more. It’s about e-visas.
Madagascar has raised prices for tourist visas
Madagascar authorities have increased fees for short-term e-visas for tourists. Anyone who wants to come for 15 days or less has to pay 3 times more than before. Now we will spend 30 euros per person, which is approximately PLN 125, and in January 10 euros (approx. PLN 42) was enough.. As for e-visas for 30, 60 and 90 days – here the prices remain unchanged.
It is easy to see that the higher fee will affect most classic travelers, after all, we rarely go on holidays longer than 2 weeks. Interestingly, if we decide to stay longer – from 16 to 30 days, we will pay only a little more for the visa, i.e. 35 euros.
The increases apply only to the electronic visa system, so those interested will be able to avoid additional fees. Just ask for a visa only after arrival at the airport at a special Visa point or at a diplomatic mission of Madagascar. Some people will probably take advantage of this opportunity, because there is no shortage of people willing to travel to the island.

According to data published by the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts, almost 331,000 people visited Madagascar in 2025. tourists from abroad.
It can be suspected that most people come for two weeks, and the authorities have increased e-visa fees, among others. to encourage travelers to stay longer. During them, you will get to know the local culture and attractions better. The fees are intended to help the tourism sector recover after it slowed for several months in 2025 due to the political crisis and the temporary suspension of some international flights.
What attracts tourists to this place? The most frequently visited are the island of Nosy Be due to its beaches, diving and admiring lemurs, the Alley of Baobabs due to its iconic trees and the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park.
