This is what the Poles chose. Surprising data about winter holidays
We know where Poles rested during this year’s winter holidays. Travelist.pl published surprising data.
The end of the winter holidays is approaching. We already know during which period Poles traveled the most, and which centers were particularly popular with tourists. Travelist.pl published surprising data showing that this year the mountains slightly lost to the sea. “In the mountains, the most popular places were Szklarska Poręba, Świeradów-Zdrój, Szczyrk, Wisła and Karpacz, while at the seaside the most popular destinations were Kołobrzeg, Gdańsk, Mielno, Międzyzdroje and Ustronie Morskie,” we read.
Record interest in holidays on the Baltic Sea
This year, Poles decided to spend their winter holidays on the Baltic Sea. According to booking data on the Travelist website, winter traffic at the Polish seaside was as much as 40 percent, while the mountains enjoyed 39 percent interest. Meanwhile, cities and spas accounted for 12 percent of stays, respectively, and lakeside relaxation was chosen by 8 percent of guests.
This year, it was not Zakopane, but Szklarska Poręba, Świeradów-Zdrój, Karpacz, Szczyrk and Wisła that recorded the greatest success among platform users. The most frequently chosen seaside resorts included Kołobrzeg, Gdańsk and Mielno.
He won the second round of the holidays
It turns out that Poles were most likely to plan trips during the second period of the summer holidays, falling between February 2 and 15, 2026. Then, students from the Lesser Poland, Lower Silesian, Łódź, Kuyavian-Pomeranian, West Pomeranian and Opole voivodeships had a break from teaching. Recreation at that time generated as much as 37 percent of all bookings, while the preceding stay accounted for 30 percent of the traffic, and the last one – for 33 percent.
“Several factors contributed to the poorer results of the first round of holidays, especially in the mountains. First of all, the long Christmas break, extended by New Year’s Eve and Epiphany, generated solid tourist traffic – especially at the seaside, which was intensively promoted at that time. Part of the demand, which traditionally fell at the beginning of the holidays, moved to the turn of the year,” explains the Travelist.pl expert. Karol Wagner from the Tatra Chamber of Commerce explained similarly the problem of low occupancy in the Tatra Mountains in an interview with “Wprost”.
