Crowds flock to this city in Kujawy every year, which is not surprising – there are brine graduation towers, healing waters, parks and sanatoriums. Trains have recently returned there, and the historic railway station there is soon to undergo renovation. PKP announced a tender.
Ciechocinek – because we are talking about it – is especially loved by older people, which does not mean that there are no children and teenagers there. The city does not complain about the lack of tourists, but they encounter unpleasant situations once they get there.
Some time ago, travelers who got off the train at the railway station in Ciechocinek were greeted by containers serving as a makeshift station. As it turned out, fortunately, it was a temporary solution – recently, PKP announced that they had taken the first step towards restoring the former glory of one of the most characteristic buildings in this part of Kujawy.

According to PAP’s findings, PKP is waiting for offers until June 22. When preparing a project, companies must remember, among others: about the fact that the station, which dates back to the beginning of the 19th century, was entered into the register of monuments. Renovation may therefore cover all elements of the structure, as long as it does not disturb their historical values. Specifics? PKP wants the team to replace the roof, windows and doors.
The station is to be “adapted to modern passenger service standards,” noted PAP. What does this mean? There will be a waiting room inside, equipped with a passenger information system (screens will display arrival and departure times). There will be toilets in the building that will meet the needs of various people (including parents who will be able to use the so-called baby changing tables). Surveillance cameras will also be installed there.
The modernization will also include the areas around the station, which will be tidied up. There will be, among others: benches.
