It’s time to stop associating Wielkopolska only with Poznań. In this voivodeship, on a high slope above the Warta River, the town of Pyzdry is located. It is considered the most beautiful in the entire area, and in 2024 it was awarded the title of “Miracle of Poland” in the Traveler ranking. What does it offer today and why is it suitable for a city break?
Pyzdry is the most beautiful in Greater Poland
Pyzdry is one of the oldest and smallest towns in Poland and is perfect for a weekend trip without crowds. Although the place is not very popular, it offers a lot and does not let you get bored. In addition to beautiful natural landscapes, there is a mural depicting key events in the history of Pyzdry, bunkers, the unique Holender windmill and a boulevard on the Warta River.
The fact that Pyzdry offers a lot for 2026 is reminded by, among others: portal gloswielkopolski.pl. It draws attention to the cobbled streets and monuments. The pearls of architecture are: the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Church of St. Beheading of Saint John the Baptist together with the former Franciscan monastery, the Arcade House, which is the oldest residential building in Pyzdry.
Are you nature lovers? This one won’t disappoint anyone here either. The boulevards are perfect for walking, as are the surrounding hiking and cycling trails. In summer you will catch, among others: for kayaking trips or cultural events. The biggest hit is the July “Wytwarzowe Pyzdry” festival.

The advantage is, among others: good and quick access from Kalisz – approx. 60 km, or Poznań – here, to reach the destination, you need to travel 120 km. From Warsaw, the journey by car will take a little longer, because it will cover approximately 250 km, which means approximately 3 hours of driving.
One of the famous people who liked this pearl of Poland is Robert Makłowicz – a traveler, a lover of Croatia and an undisputed culinary authority. A few years ago, he devoted one of the episodes on his YouTube channel to the city in question. He tried to discover local flavors and traditions, but also to expose the local artillery secret.
