This is the last moment at PIT. Watch out for traps and false pages

Phishing, false links and fraudsters – the PIT settlement season is a harvest for cyber criminals. Check how to protect yourself by settling online.
“Remember to settle the PIT by April 30. Do not postpone the settlement at the last minute. Before today, use the amenities in the Twit E-PIT service”-pre-Christmas resembles the Ministry of Finance in the post on platform X, encouraging online settlements.
Settlement of e-pit and more and more popular
From year to year, more and more Poles are deciding to submit a tax return via the Internet. The Ministry of Finance reminds that your e-pit service operates 24 hours a day, and is currently also available in the Mobile application of the Tax Office. This is a convenient solution that can be handled from the phone or tablet.
Experts, however, warn: use only official sources, such as taxes.gov.pl.
– This is the most trusted and safe place to start the online settlement process. When logging in to the tax e-mail, use safe authentication methods (i.e. identity recognition) offered by the Login.gov.pl platform, such as a trusted profile, e-person, electronic banking or the Mobatwan application-explains Bogdan Zatorski in an interview with “Wprost”, Bogdan Zatorski, head of business analysis and legal requirements, at Symfonia.
E-pit settlement-attention to phishing
More and more fraudsters are trying to use the tax settlement season to extort data.
– One of the most common threats is phishing, i.e. impersonating state institutions, such as the Ministry of Finance or Kas – warns Zatorski.
He explains that fraudsters can create pages confusingly similar to official websites, asking for confidential data such as PESEL numbers, online banking passwords or payment card data. Very often they also disseminate harmful software using fake links in e-mails or SMS.
Take care of safety during PIT settlement
To avoid threats, it is worth verifying the source of each message and using only trusted applications for settlements. Before downloading, check their opinions and the number of downloads. Experts also point out that the data entered in the declaration is usually processed locally on the computer, which increases the control, although it does not eliminate the risk – the computer can be infected.
False notifications about tax overpaper or the need to correct the tax return are equally dangerous. In such cases, fraudsters impersonate officials and try to get confidential data or extort the transfer. Remember: Tax offices never ask for banking data by phone or mail.
