This is the cheapest choice for the Christmas market. Poles will fly to this city for pennies

Tirana w Albanii

This place is not your typical Christmas destination. However, you will find numerous and cheap Christmas markets here.

In December, Poles should pay attention to cheap flights to Tirana. A plane ticket from Krakow or Warsaw to the capital of Albania will cost us even less than PLN 100 per person one way. Friendly prices are also waiting for us on site. Even though this region of Europe is not associated with much Christmas, in Tirana you will find several delightful Christmas markets, much cheaper than those in Germany, Austria or Poland.

Christmas markets in Tirana are a hit

The capital of Albania is not the most frequently visited place in the holiday country, neither in summer nor in winter. The brutalist city is probably not one of the most recommended places to visit in Europe, or even in the Balkans. Although so far it was mainly interested in tourists looking for unusual experiences, lovers of postcard-like views and the Christmas atmosphere will also experience unique moments here. All thanks to the colorful fairs that will change the Balkan capital beyond recognition in December. “It’s a real Christmas fairy tale,” writes the Albanian website Visit Tirana, echoed by the British from The Sun. The winter markets (located in the main Skanderbeg Square, in the Bllok district and in the Pazari and Ri market) are not only beautiful, but also really cheap.

You won’t see horror receipts here

Prices in Albania are extremely low even during special annual events such as fairs, which here are called “winter festivals”. At this time of year, this region of Europe is visited by few tourists, so we can count on significant discounts when booking accommodation. A two-day stay, for example, from December 7 to December 9, will cost less than PLN 300 per person, including flights and accommodation in a double apartment with breakfast in the city center. This is less than the cost of a round-trip journey by Pendolino train from Gdańsk to Krakow, where one of the favorite fairs of foreign tourists coming to Poland starts at the end of November.
