This is supposed to be the railway hit of 2027. An international novelty in the schedule

This combo is going to be a hit. At the end of the year, residents of two voivodeships will travel by Lower Silesian Railways train to Cottbus, and from there they can travel to Berlin.

The offer of Koleje Dolnośląskie is developing very dynamically. Last year, after 25 years, an important national connection to Karpacz was restored, but the company’s plans go further. At the end of the year, trains of the regional carrier will connect Legnica with Cottbus in Germany. It is the second largest city in Brandenburg, after Potsdam.

Trains from Wrocław to Cottbus

“It’s time for us to be the railway hit of 2027. From December 2026, together with Lubuskie and Unser Brandenburg, we are planning to implement the connection: Legnica <-> Żagań <-> Żary <-> Chociebuż” – announced Michał Rado, vice-marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, responsible, among others, for the development of the railway. 7 pairs of trains are planned on the route to Cottbus, which will connect (Wrocław) – Legnica – Cottbus – (Berlin).

This is not the first carrier that operated a connection to Cottbus. “KD trains will de facto replace Polregio trains from Żagań to Cottbus, which currently run in five pairs,” notes Rynek Kolejowy. “The new KD connection will therefore triple the offer from Wrocław to Berlin and will allow flights to the German capital via a different route than before,” we read.

Currently, trains from Wrocław go through Legnica, Zielona Góra, Rzepin to Frankfurt (Oder) and from there to the main station in Berlin. The proposed connection will be a shorter route.

Lower Silesian Railways. This is how we will get to Berlin

Vice-Marshal Michał Rado emphasized that this is an alternative to the PKP Intercity connection. With a transfer in Legnica and Cottbus, passengers will reach the German capital in a comparable time. In Cottbus, the journey will continue on a Deutsche Bahn train. Currently, the state carrier, Intercity, offers four pairs of connections from the capital of Lower Silesia to Berlin.

The Lower Silesian Railways connection will be launched thanks to the cooperation of the State of Brandenburg, the Lubuskie Voivodeship and the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
