This is not the end of fees. The European city will continue to burden tourists
The European city of the third year in a row intends to charge tourists. You need to know before traveling to Venice.
It seems that the fee that Venice charged from one -day tourists in 2024 and 2025 will not disappear from January. What’s more, “tickets to enter the city” are to apply not to 54, but for 60 days a year. The price of the ticket will most likely change, but the final amount has not yet been approved by the City Council. “The hours in which tourists will have to pay the fee will remain unchanged – from 8:30 to 16:00,” writes Travel and Tour World.
Fee in Venice in 2026
Venice announces continuing to charge a fee from tourists also the following year. The controversial solution appeared for the first time last year’s spring and was a response to excessive tourism affecting residents, but also tourists who complained to crowds hindering sightseeing.
Travelers who planned to come to Venice only for one day, without accommodation in its area, for entering the historic city center at the beginning of the program had to pay 5 euros. Then, in 2025, the price increased to 10 euros, but only for those who did not make a reservation at least four -day in advance.
It is not yet known how much the ticket price will be in 2026, but according to preliminary information, Venice plans to increase it. Other details about the project are also known.
Tourists will pay only on some days
As in previous years, the fee will apply only on some days during the high season. However, there will be definitely more such occasions – the City Council wants to burden tourists on selected sixty days between April and July (in 2025 it was 54 days, and in 2024 – only 30 days). So you can see that as the time of waiting for profits is over, they are increasing. “The exemptions will continue to apply to night guests, residents, students, people with disabilities and others,” reads.
