It was supposed to be a quiet vacation in Italy surrounded by his closest family. Instead of rest, a certain 50-year-old from Poland was facing serious legal problems. The man “forgot” that he had been wanted for several years under a European Arrest Warrant.
Italy: Pole arrested while on vacation with family
The tourist checked in with his family at a hotel on the popular Lake Garda as if nothing had happened. After the reception staff entered their guest’s details into the system, the local police received a signal that this was a man wanted by the police. Just a few moments later, officers knocked on the door of the hotel room where the 50-year-old was staying.
As it turned out, the tourist from Poland lives and works in Germany. Investigators have been trying to track him down for many years, without success. It’s all because of drug-related crimes he committed in the 1990s. In 2019, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison. However, the man never went to jail.
