This is how they want to extort money. The fraudsters used Nawrocki’s image
Cybercriminals have broken the law once again. They did not hesitate to use the image of President Karol Nawrocki to more effectively extort money from Poles.
On popular social media platforms, you can come across an interview with the head of state, which, however, has been heavily modified using artificial intelligence.
Seven months ago, during the 2025 election campaign, the former president of the Institute of National Remembrance appeared on the Journalist’s podcast. Fragments of Nawrocki’s online speech were cut out and then processed by cybercriminals using the deepfake method (a manipulated video is then created, which, thanks to AI technology, looks authentic, sometimes indistinguishable between a real and a fake video).
This is very dangerous material. During the recording, the most important person in the country seems to “encourage” Poles to invest their hard-earned cash in a questionable investment platform.
A dangerous video is circulating on the Internet. It’s a deepfake with President Karol Nawrocki
The politician’s voice that we hear during the video has remained almost the same (in terms of tone, timbre, etc.), but the content of the interview has changed significantly. A trained eye will quickly notice that “something is wrong here” – it is worse with inexperienced people who may trust an opposition politician. Into what? That she actually ever promoted a dubious investment platform.
In the video, Nawrocki “promises” Internet users pears on a willow – all they need to do is transfer PLN 1,000 to start with, and the platform will multiply the amount at a dizzying pace. Cybercriminals are trying to convince Poles with the president’s voice that thanks to their method they will be able to quickly quit their full-time job because from now on they will see PLN 3,000 in their account every week. And all this without any effort.
Let us emphasize once again – the video that we can find on popular social media is completely fake. The only things that match are the voice, clothing and background of the Journalist’s studio. However, President Nawrocki has never advertised any investment platform and did not praise it during an interview with a popular podcaster. It is worth knowing about it and informing your loved ones about it – especially older people, who are most susceptible to online fraud, including deepfakes. The figure of the former head of the Institute of National Remembrance is widely trusted by citizens of the Republic of Poland – that is why cybercriminals are trying to perfidiously use his image for their own purposes.
What to do with such a film? Report it to CERT
The Onet portal reminds that such false advertisements can be reported to CERT Polska (Computer Emergency Response Team Poland, which operates within the structures of the Scientific and Academic Computer Network-National Research Institute). We have two options – either fill out the online form on the website, or log in to mObywatel and inform CERT about a dangerous deepfake (an attempt to cheat or extort money) via the government application.
We can also report harmful content of this type directly on a given social networking site – depending on where we see the video, there is certainly the possibility of informing the administration about the danger in the entry/post containing it (usually you need to click on the “three-dot”, which will expand the menu or on the “wheel with a cog”).
